The brief

If there's ever a Mediterranean style garden in Miami that'll turn heads, it’s this one! The needs for this one-of-a-kind masterpiece were some of the norm: privacy, curb appeal unlike any other, ease of maintenance, longevity, and the ability to cut tropical flowers all year long.

Our solution

This garden is in Tahiti Beach, Coral Gables, and to this day is the finest landscape in that area. Going on 20 years strong! The landscape encompasses around two acres. We adorned it with majestic fountains, spiral topiaries, meandering Chicago brick paths, seasonal flower beds, lots of fresh herbs, Italian cypress, juniper, and fragrant roses, jasmine and gardenias – all wrapped up in a big tropical garden bow.

We used large podocarpus hedge plants for privacy, installed a secret rose garden with fountains and pathways, and even added a huge birdcage in the back with a Florida Flame vine covering it. Yes, Mediterranean landscape design and tropical plants do blend well!

The client's reaction

Bog and Jodi Dickinson shared their appreciation for a landscape that sets theirs apart from all others – a masterpiece, as Jodi often described it. They loved the privacy received from the podocarpus hedge, and the cypress trees took them to Italy in an instant.

Jodi expressed her joy for bringing in cut flowers from the garden, as she's a gourmet chef and had frequent guests in their Coral Gables mansion. The garden brings a sense of joy and tranquility to their lives. They enjoyed having me take care of everything so they didn’t have to!

Bob was president of Carnival Cruise Lines at the time and had the largest wine cellar in the USA. He was featured often in cigar and wine magazines and so was his beautiful landscape!
